2018 Ralph G. Norman Scholarship Winners

Caleb Carr

Caleb Carr, a 2018 graduate of Shiloh Christian School, will attend the University of Arkansas this fall. He plans to study civil engineering.

“Caleb showed a tenacity for learning that did not end in the classroom but extended to athletics and all remaining school activities,” said Rick McClarrinon, Ed.D., Carr’s teacher. “His work ethic was superior, his character exemplary, and his leadership qualities well above average.”

Foster Rash

Foster Rash, a 2018 graduate of Jacksonville High School, will attend Central Baptist College in the fall. He plans to become a high school math teacher and baseball coach.

“Foster Rash is a rarity among students,” said Debra Stanchak, Rash’s guidance counselor. “He is mature, patient and an all around good person. He wants to be a great teacher, one who inspires students to chase their dreams and not to give up when life gets difficult.”

Grace West

Grace West, a 2018 graduate of Monticello High School, will attend the University of Central Arkansas this fall.  She plans to obtain a degree in biology and anthropology to become a neuroscientist.

“Grace West is one of the finest examples of self-advocacy whom I have had the pleasure of teaching,” said West’s AP English teacher Julie Fakouri. “Grace asks questions; she asks for explanations; she checks to make sure that she is doing the activity correctly. She never makes excuses.”
